Culture Switch: Russia and China meet Germany
The book “Culture Switch: Russia and China meet Germany” by Alissa Verj & Suki Su focuses on the Russian and Chinese cultures in Germany, especially in Berlin. It shows a collection of visual elements and general clichés of these two cultures. In the end, the Russian and Chinese elements are merged and their symbolism are exchanged. This experiment plays with prejudices and clichéd images that are anchored in the minds of many people. But there is also a kernel of truth in clichés. In this book, we try to visually explore the stories behind them and bring visual features to the fore. The cover’s material is linen book cloth. The cover was printed with PVC inks screen. The binding of the book was done by ourselves in the screen printing and TypoLabor at the UdK.
