Another Matter by Experimental Film/ Media Art

Valentina Berthelon Aldunate l.steppacher@udk-berlin.de c.bayatlier@udk-berlin.de

The exhibition Another Matter by the Experimental Film and Media Art Class, held at Acud Gallery in July 2021, explored new ways of relating to the more-than-human and inquired into the social, material, and aesthetic conditions of the so-called Anthropocene. The exhibited works examined matters of concern beyond anthropocentrism, following Donna Haraway’s call for tentacular thinking. As an aperture towards new understandings, it brought together artifacts, sketches, notes, and vignettes from a range of ongoing research processes. Presented as an assemblage of in-progress works ranging from video- and installation-based to sculpture and painting, the exhibition embraced the potential of the unfinished to open up new discourses and pose continuously new questions. This Exhibition was developed with the curatorial support of Vanina Saracino. For this years Rundgang, the class shows Another Matter Vol. II, featuring 6 selected works from the exhibition held at Acud Gallery earlier this year.
