William Basinski's album Cascade is a 40-minute loop of a roughly 10-second excerpt from a piano piece. The design of the cover picks up on the flowing movement of the music and shows a waterfall meandering across the cover in the form of ever-repeating sound waves to the music loop. In doing so, the design reflects the abstracted, digitally enhanced form of the album's music. Through an augmented reality app, the lines of the barcode on the cover set the waterfall's line-like sound waves in motion just as the lines of the grooves on the record do with the music.
