New Faith
“New Faith” explore spiritual movements in the post-religious world. Even though we think of the world as less religious than ever, we can think of patterns of quasi-religious behaviours, rituals and beliefs across many movements and communities. The project focuses on the intersection of two of these communities: Techno-Utopianism and the Cult of Wellness. As technology and the internet have accelerated the success of wellness movements our gadgets, apps and platforms have become tools for mindfulness, health and betterment. But they have also made us vulnerable to manipulation and exploitation. “New Faith” incorporates visual and communicative codes from many parts of the movement – yoga, diet, medicine, bio-hacking, exercise and many more – into one installation that sings the gospels of Techno-Wellness.
