Seemiotic
The project originated from the question of how technology and colour are intertwined with each other. Exploring artificial colour processes through AI algorithms and scrutinising the underlying datasets used to create such technologies, gave rise to broader questions regarding biased datasets and machine-constructed narratives.
AI-driven machines operate with the body of knowledge provided by their creators and thus replicate the human worldview, including its bias, subjectivity and cultural background... Contrasting or over-modulating this worldview allows us to discuss the topic of machines and their role in knowledge creation and facilitation.
“Seemiotic” is a multi media installation that utilizes computer vision, object detection and a semantic network to alter and distort our view on everyday objects by overfitting their meaning and purpose.
